Functional Medicine

The training I have received is based on the Functional Medicine model which is a proven approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease. Most complex conditions have several root causes often initiated in childhood. The precise manifestation of each cause depends on each individual’s genetics, lifestyle, diet and environment and only solutions that address the root causes will have lasting benefit. I use Functional Medicine tools to analyse a client's health questionnaire and medical history to arrive at my recommendations. You can read more about Functional Medicine on the Institute of Functional Medicine website.

Functional Testing

Functional Tests using stool, blood, hair or saliva can assess potential nutritional imbalances and inform personalised nutrition recommendations to support wellbeing. I use well-known and reputable labs to carry these out.

Blood Tests - for biochemical imbalances, eg comprehensive thyroid or female hormone panel.

Stool Testing - for assessing the gut microbiome. See here and here for more info.

Organic Acid Tests (OAT) - for getting a birds-eye view of various systems in the body. See here for more info.

Food Intolerance Tests - See here for more info.

DUTCH Testing - female and stress hormones in detail, including how one is metabolising hormones. Useful for women's hormonal health & infertility. See here for more info.

Hair mineral analysis - for insights into nutritional imbalances and heavy metal toxicity. See here for more info. â€‹

If I think you would benefit from one of these tests, functional testing may be recommended but this will be discussed with you at your initial consultation and only ordered with your consent as they carry additional costs. To find out more drop me an email or book a discovery call. â€‹
